What happens when a man ignores a woman’s cries?

A fleeting beauty with tattoos of distress and anger-
markings that caress the lines on her skin.
For all the love and devotion, now a searing

pain with clumps of regret.

He loved at one point, yes he did.
He adored and trusted her, perhaps he did.
A loyalty and honesty he bestowed,

he became her truth.

A raven must have mocked the bulge

in his loins a few moons ago-

a strange cold that still gives

the shivers as she waits on this man every day
Seething for him…
enduring the pain and absence all the while.

Burying the look of distress- hoping that

he will graduate from stunts and fronts,

to a mature responsible man
A man she first fell in love with-
a man who will love and rub her

the right way- treat her better.

Give her that natural smile back-
a devotion, pride and loyalty she’ll give

for all the tears in the dark time might have erased,

his will be a moment of reckoning
and an epiphany for her…
She wipes her tears and holds onto hope
For hope is a grieving widow’s clutch

and an angry man’s endurance.

What happens when a man ignores a woman’s cries?

He gives another man hope and a chance to wipe her tears
While he fronts, another man steps up
While he stunts, another man takes his place

For each time he has made her cry, another man

turn them to sexual moans as a compensation

for the loss in Miss lake city.

All the times he has failed to make it home,

another man will be a regular…
She’ll lie at his feet and cater to him,

for the love he shows and the care he gives her.
Your favorite meals will be made with extra spice

and love for the new man and the throngs of passion

that once caressed your skin in shades of silk,

he’ll warm and turn up- night after night…

Every anniversary, he forgot,

another man remembers
For all the time he never listened to her

and acted like a white knight,

another man listened and was there for her,

as her friend and lover…

This is what happens when a man ignores a woman’s cries…
She’ll either wait, or he will be replaced by another man.

I am an African woman and a mother to a precious little angel. I love to use the term "Afro-floetic Queen" mostly to describe my poetry and my roots. I love poetry...art, soul music and inspirational bits of knowledge to offer advice and counseling to those who need it. I can be very witty, straight forward but fun. Ha. ha... A colorful perception of the world - expressed in my poetry. I want to inspire people with my Poetry...give them hope, while also advising them. Life is a learning process and i am happy when one of my pieces directly affects or inspires one of my readers. Let's take a detour around experience, and let me fill your minds with sweet poetic juices.... Note: Just changed my user name from FloetryC to AfroetryC because the latter is more personal and describes my Spoken Word Poetry better.
