Love him when he’s right,
Love him when he’s wrong…
For all that he does right,
appreciate and be his peace..
For all that he does wrong,
tolerate and forgive him for
it’s his price for being Human
and he’ll make mistakes.
Love him when he’s broke and broken-
Give him the best fix through
the cold and support him.
It’s in moments like this
that you build better days and joys
Love him as his woman.
He’ll probably forget your Birthday
a few times he might not compliment you,
do all the cheesy chivalrous stunts you’d wish for-
but he comes home to you every day
and pays the bills, Respect him.
When you love a good man right,
all comes with the bitter-sweet
a tough love with an endurance, we call security.
A Security that builds over the years and
becomes sustainable for the children and family.
He isn’t a movie star, celebrity nor
does he come with all that ice…
He’s only a responsible caring man,
doing the best for his woman and children,
Woman, Recognize this hue.
He isn’t perfect and he can’t read your mind.
He works all day, sometimes taking the hustles
and blows through the streets
through the blistering cold, rainy nights to get to you-
a few struggles and sacrifices he never mentions
because he’s a good man.
As he gets home today from work,
welcome him with a smile and kiss –
ask how his day has been
tell him that you love him and
you appreciate all he does.
Watch his gaze- see that smile…
that’s the shade of fulfillment and gratitude.
Help him with the bags and run his bath water,
Fix him that dinner on time as he likes it.
A beer and remote to catch the game.
And as you dim the lights and swirl across
in those shades of pink, show your appreciation.
Every day, every day.
Let him know that you got his back always
and you appreciate him for he’s a good man.
