Stop Cyber Bullying!

We live in an age where some people turn into monsters online.

Caressing a pathetic confidence in the cyber world which in reality

they lack. Taking up different forms online to attract more followers

and gain cheap popularity by intimidating and putting others down.

Using social media as a platform to spread hate, harass and torment

others who are different from them.

Slaves to society, dancing to the rhythms of societal perception and

expectations. Hiding behind the glaring computer screen and autocorrect.

Using the keyboard as a weapon to mock, intimidate and embarrass others

Who do not conform to their way of life. Spreading marinated lies, posing

baseless judgments and labeling. Using cruel words, circulating screen shots,

forwarded text messages, and photos to break other people and eventually

crash their spirits.

Mean comments hidden as weapons of destruction, emoticons as compliments

to online cruelty. Claiming that words have no impact and that the words that

they say are meant to be taken as jokes. Twisting words to justify their behavior.

Ignoring the fact that jokes are not meant to cause harm or inflict pain on others.

Unaware that we are all different and some people would rather take their own

lives than show the world who they really are.

An age where people are judged based on their sexual orientation, tribe, race,

body size and whatever standards society considers as right. Profiled, ridiculed

and labeled with stereotypes which are pinned like badges on their chests to

indicate their inconsistencies and weaknesses. Isolated, picked on and attacked

online by bullies because they are different. Insensitive to the pain inflicted on

some of their victims and how they deal with the pain and handle their feelings

and emotions. Succumbing to self hate, feelings of isolation, sadness and

eventually depression. In a world where it is possible to tease and bully

someone until they decide that death is the less cruel option.

Unaware that cyber bullying is a serious crime and affects people differently.

Some people cannot deal with the pain that comes with it and eventually

become broken and depressed whilst others think of suicide as a better option.

Cyber bullying isn’t a joke. The effects are real.

We need to protect the people in our lives and put a stop to cyber bullying.

Cyber bullying is the act of harming or harassing via information technology networks in a repeated and deliberate manner.

Cyber bullies take up many forms on social media. They could be people close to you or strangers. Their intention is to embarrass, harass, intimidate or make threats online to another person. They pretend that they are other people online to trick others and spread lies and rumors about victims.

They trick people into revealing personal information or send and forward mean text messages, spread screen shots, post pictures of victims without their consent. In these times, they circulate and share nudes and videos.
