Celebrating Spoken Word

I met the Spoken word at the

junction between poetry and

my consciousness.

Spoken word came to me like

a prophesy.

Made honeyed declarations

and sauntered them into my

ears like a beautiful symphony.

Writing instructions to the sky,

breathing floetic pieces of

naked art and stroking my soul

into a living rage in a parable of

lyrical uprisings.

Our relationship was

consummated in a garden of

metaphorical rhyme as we

skinny dipped in a verbal musk

and coaxed into passionate

orgies of verse.

We rode on a wave of syllables

in a deep mental connection

and words rolled out of my

mouth in a verbal scream.

Spoken word navigated me

around the sea of philosophy,

re-routed me from the island

of sobriety and opened up my

mind in a war of incarcerated

words of subdued emotions,

provoked my thoughts and

exposed my firm convictions,

enlightening me with a new

voice to educate and inspire.

I am the motor- mouthed poet,

the verbal exhibitionist, the floetic

drunk living life like an etymology.

X-rays of my heart and soul are

exposed to the world as i give

my experiences with syntax and

rhyme.

Professing my words in print.

Confessing my truth at one mic

shows with my well enunciated

diction.

Spoken word opened my mind

and saved me from the chains

of mental slavery.

Now i see the world anew with

my blood shot eyes and slurred

speech.

Thank you Spoken word!

Author: AfroetryC

I am an African woman and a mother to a precious little angel. I love to use the term "Afro-floetic Queen" mostly to describe my poetry and my roots. I love poetry...art, soul music and inspirational bits of knowledge to offer advice and counseling to those who need it. I can be very witty, straight forward but fun. Ha. ha... A colorful perception of the world - expressed in my poetry. I want to inspire people with my Poetry...give them hope, while also advising them. Life is a learning process and i am happy when one of my pieces directly affects or inspires one of my readers. Let's take a detour around experience, and let me fill your minds with sweet poetic juices.... Note: Just changed my user name from FloetryC to AfroetryC because the latter is more personal and describes my Spoken Word Poetry better.
